Fourth seed Juan Monaco enjoyed a routine win in the first round of the Grand Prix de Tennis de Lyon, beating local man Josselin Ouanna 6-3 6-2.
The Argentinian wrapped up the victory in an hour to move into the second round alongside Frenchman Julian Benneteau. The fifth seed eased past Alberto Martin of Spain 7-6 (7/1) 6-1.
Another Frenchman, Florent Serra, beat Belgian Christophe Rochus 6-3 6-3.
