Day two Wimbledon action

We got our first glimpse of Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon today. The Spaniard has advanced to the second round after he defeated German Andreas Beck.

The world number two won both the first and second set 6-4 with ease, however the third was not as simple, as the game went to a tie-break. Nadal then showed his brilliance taking all break points getting him a 7-6 win.

Nadal says it was a strange match as the there weren't many points from the baseline as he plays mostly from the baseline. He will face Latvian Ernests Gulbis in the second round.

Venus William be! at local favourite Naomi Cavaday 7-6, 6-1 to book her place in the next round with Maria Sharapova joining her after overcoming Stephanie Foretz 6-1, 6-4.
